• New Hire Sign-on Bonus and Employee Referral Bonus



    The pandemic has presented several challenges over the last two years within public education. Being able to adequately staff our schools with enough bus drivers, custodians, paraprofessionals, office staff, and teachers is a challenge that CGESD is currently facing. In an effort to increase our applicant pool for all positions within the district, the administration is recommending offering monetary employment and referral incentives. These incentives would be two-fold: one to entice viable candidates to apply, and the other to encourage current staff to assist the district with recruiting viable applicants.

    Any NEW employee hired into a benefits eligible position after August 9, 2022 will be eligible to receive a $1500 sign on bonus once they have successfully completed their 60 day probation period. The $1500 will be paid out in two equal installments, in December and June.

    Any current employee working in a benefits eligible position who has referred an applicant will be eligible to receive a $750 referral bonus, once the newly hired employee successfully completes their 60 day probation. The $750 will be paid out in one installment after the 60 day probation has been met.

    Administrative staff who are involved in the candidate selection process (selecting, interviewing, hiring, etc.) are not eligible to receive the $750 referral bonus.

    The Governing Board approved this referral and incentive program for the Transportation department in October 2020, with an update in April 2022; with parameters specific to the transportation department. Substitute Bus drivers are eligible to participate and Bus Drivers need to pass their probation and obtain their CDL to receive the incentive. Administration is recommending these transportation department caveats remain in place.
