• CGESD offers a variety of Intentional PLCs in order to build site-based leaders throughout the district.  An Intentional PLC is a PLC that is chosen by teachers based on a shared interest or a mutual commitment to growth.  Below is a list of the PLCs that will be offered in the 2020-2021 school year (note: many will begin their work Spring Semester of the 2019-2020 school year). For more detailed information about each Intentional PLC, click on the PLC name in the descriptions below.

    Applications are due on January 17, 2020.  Links to applications can be found under each opportunity, if we are seeking applicants at this time.  Due to the commitment each of these opportunities requires, teachers may only participate in one of these opportunities during the 2020-2021 school year.  If you have any questions regarding a specific Intentional PLC, please contact the leaders listed for the PLC.


  • Gifted and Advanced Learners

    Fund: Title IV
    Leader(s): Vicki Ellis
    Participants: Interested individuals PreK-8 with a focus on the promotion of gifted and advanced learning strategies for all students.
    Conference: TBD
    Application: No, by invitation
    Time Commitment:  Afterschool meeting once a month, book study with flipped meeting requirements, 2 half-day workshops/training, Google Classroom collaborations, and participation in model classroom visits.

  • Language Acquisition

    Fund: Title IV-A (Well-Rounded Education)
    Leader(s): Wendy Spencer
    Participants: 14 teachers (ideally, 2 per grade level in K-5 and 2 6-8 teachers), 2-3 TOA/APs
    Conference: 2-day summer district workshop (compensated)
    Application: Yes, no interview
    Time Commitment:  2-day summer training; monthly meetings after school; SIOP book study; collaboration creating district documents.

  • Leading in Literacy


    Fund:

    Participants: Any teacher PreK-8 that teaches literacy, principal from the participating site, literacy coaches
    Conference: Balanced Literacy Institute: June 15th- 17th 2019 (San Diego, CA)

    Time Commitment:  Afterschool beginning in April 2020 (1 day after school); 3 full days and 2 after school days in the 2020-2021 school year; collaboration via Google platform; small group coaching at the school site; and individual coaching/mentoring.

  • Math For Change

    Participants: Any teacher PreK-8 that teaches math
    Conference: Out of state Math Plus conference in July

    Time Commitment:  2-3 after school meetings Feb-May 2020; conference in July 2020; 4 full days in 2020-2021 school year; 3 after school meetings in 2020-2021 school year; individual coaching.

  • Tech-Empowered Innovators

    Conference: At CGESD District Office:  Google Certified Educator Level 1 Bootcamp- May 21-22, 2020; 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

    Time Commitment:  1 full day March 2020; 2 afterschool meetings Spring 2020; 2-day Google Bootcamp;  monthly group Google Hangouts; 2 book studies through Google Classroom; monthly individual and group coaching.
