• Meet Superintendent Dr. Jo Etta Gonzales

In April 2016, following an extensive nationwide search, Dr. Jo Etta Gonzales was selected as superintendent of the Casa Grande Elementary School District.

Dr. Gonzales is also a product of Arizona schools, graduating with her Bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in Special Education, earning her Administrative Credential and Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University, and earning her Doctoral degree from Arizona State University in Educational Leadership and Policy Development.  She and her husband are both native to Pinal County, and together they have three beautiful adult daughters and two rambunctious grandsons.

She taught special education and mathematics at the middle and elementary school levels in the Kyrene Elementary School District and served as a dean of students and certified specialist prior to taking a principal position with the Tempe Elementary School District. Before taking on the role of directing a national equity assistance center, The Equity Alliance at ASU, she worked in the Maricopa Unified School District as Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment. With a focus on equity, quality, and family, Dr. Gonzales’ pursuit of the superintendent position in Casa Grande Elementary School District arises from her desire to contribute, inspire, and make a lasting positive impact. She is guided by the conviction that education changes lives and strengthens communities, and believes school leadership is about being responsive and inclusive. She staunchly believes in our children – all children – and strives to ensure leadership that inspires our best efforts; all day, every day.
