Casa Grande Elementary School District (CGESD) adheres to Arizona State Mandates outlined for gifted testing. CGESD primarily uses the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) to identify gifted students. The assessment battery includes tools that are language-free and culturally unbiased to provide equal opportunities for the identification of the District’s English language learners and culturally diverse students.
Testing/Screening is offered throughout the school year as follows:
- Fall: Grades 3 - 8
- Winter: 2nd-grade Screeners across the district
- Spring: Any students in grades 3 - 8 residing in the CGESD boundaries
Testing accommodations are made for students with disabilities according to each student's IEP or Section 504 Accommodation Plan. This testing may require special testing arrangements at the student’s home school site and will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
