What is KinderSteps?
Students who turn 5 after August 31st but before December 31st of the current
year and pass the KinderSteps Screener are eligible to attend Kindergarten early.
What is the KinderSteps process?
Students will complete the screening in 2 phases.
Phase 1: Students will be screened for academic skills. The student must pass the
academic screener in order to participate in phase 2. Students who do not pass
the screening will not be rescreened.
Phase 2: If students pass the academic screening, they will be asked to
participate in a classroom activity to screen their functional school readiness
skills. These skills include attending to tasks, following teacher directions,
cooperative play, etc.
Where will the KinderSteps screeners take place?
The Early Childhood Learning Center: 390 E. Lakeside Parkway.
When will Phase 1 of KinderSteps screeners take place?
April 16, April 30, June 4, and June 18 by appointment only.
If the student passes Phase 1, when will Phase 2 take place?
April 23, May 7, June 11, and June 25 by appointment only.
