CGMS, Cottonwood, and Mesquite School Closures

November 8, 2020

Dear CGESD Family,

Today, the Casa Grande Elementary School District has been notified of several confirmed COVID-19 cases impacting operations at several schools. Out of an abundance of caution to ensure the health and safety for our students and staff, the Pinal County Health Department has recommended a temporary closure of Casa Grande Middle School, Cottonwood Elementary School, and Mesquite Elementary School. Families will be notified in a separate notification outlining details and next steps.

The Casa Grande Elementary School District continues to follow CDC and Arizona Department of Health Services COVID-19 guidelines. Our schools practice enhanced cleaning, social distancing, hand washing, and the requirement of face coverings.  Per our established protocol, the school will be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected.  We continue to remain in contact with the Pinal County Public Health Department and will take the steps necessary to protect the health of our students and staff.

You may refer to the CGESD In-Person Re-Entry Plan for more detailed guidelines and procedures regarding COVID-19 in our school district.

Our priority at the Casa Grande Elementary School District is to protect the health and safety of every student.  We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed. Should you have any questions, please contact your child’s school or you can email us at
