This is the image for the news article titled Storm Damage at CactusLast night's storm caused damage to the telephone and Internet at Cactus.  Access to the Internet has been restored, but it is likely to take a few days to restore telephone service.  In the interim, calls concerning absences or messages for students or staff should be made to the central switchboard at (520) 836-2111.

The storm also affected the school’s air conditioning.  Classrooms had cooling throughout the day, but other areas, including the gymnasium, the cafeteria, the band room, the art room, and the office did not have reliable air conditioning until approximately 1:00 p.m.  With the lack of air conditioning in the cafeteria, students picked up their lunches in the cafeteria, then returned to their second hour classrooms to eat lunch.  District staff and contractors employed by the District worked on the system throughout the day, and determined that one of two electronic components controlling the school’s cooling had failed and had to be replaced.  Work will continue on the system to ensure that the problem is correctly diagnosed and that students and staff are able work in comfort.  Please monitor the school’s web site for updates.
