Bollywood DancingThis past weekend, 237 mothers and daughters attended the 6th Annual "Celebrating Women of Today and Tomorrow Conference" at Cactus Middle School. The event is presented by three community partners: the Casa Grande Elementary School District, the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce, and United Way of Pinal County.

The conference is funded by donations and sponsorships from generous community members and businesses. Mothers and daughters attend free of charge. Over 100 dedicated volunteers bring their time, talent and hard work to the planning and implementation of the event to make it successful.

Cindy Schaider, President and CEO of Schaider Consulting Services, spoke to conference attendees about being true to yourself. Mrs. Schaider encouraged attendees to dream big and know that one must "do the work" to achieve their dreams.

Strengthening the mother-daughter relationship is a core focus of the conference. Participants identify their specific communication style and learn how to improve communications with others. Helping mothers and daughters to discover new ideas to improve their communication will help strengthen their relationship. A strong mother-daughter relationship will aid them in working through the challenges of adolescence.

Another critical element of the conference is the Information Fair. Various community resources and services showcase their information. 15 various community businesses and organizations were on hand at this year's conference.

The Big House Cafe sponsored the catered conference luncheon. During the luncheon attendees heard from Councilwoman Lisa Fitzgibbons and her daughter Ashley about their relationship and their mutual support for one another.

The closing event was fun and energizing for attendees. Kriti Dance presented step-by-step Bollywood Dance instruction. Mothers and daughters participated enthusiastically as they learned together.
Of equal importance is the atmosphere of the day. Much time and attention is given to making the experience extraordinary. The goal is to create an environment in which attendees feel safe, nurtured and cared for by our community.

All 6th grade girls in the Casa Grande Elementary School District and St. Anthony's Catholic School are invited to attend.
