Dr. Davidson was raised in Kansas and earned his B.A. in elementary education at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. He began his career in education serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in rural Paraguay. Upon the completion of his term of service with the Peace Corps, he moved to Arizona in 1982. For nine years, he was an elementary school teacher and principal. In 1991, he moved to Casa Grande as the principal at Cholla Elementary School. Two years later, he was appointed Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, and in 1997 was named superintendent. In 2005, he was awarded a doctoral degree in Educational Leadership by the University of Arizona, after completing a statewide study of the instructional leadership practices of Arizona superintendents.

Dr. Davidson has received the Superintendent of the Year Award for Large School Districts from the Arizona School Administrators in 2000, the Business Leader of the Year Award from the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce in 2003, and the Arizona nomination for National Superintendent of the Year from the American Association of School Administrators in 2006.  In 2014, he was named to the Southwestern College of Kansas Educator Hall of Fame.  In 2016, he received the Raymond Sterling Kellis Leadership Award from the Arizona School Administrators.

In addition to serving as Superintendent, Dr. Davidson is also active throughout the community. He serves on the Board of Directors for Against Abuse, Inc., the Casa Grande Alliance, the Casa Grande Community Hospital Foundation, and he is a member of the Rotary Club of Casa Grande. In 2004, he was nominated by Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano to the Arizona School Facilities Board and served as the chairman from 2006-2012. He is the Vice President of the Arizona Business and Education Coalition and previously served as President of the Superintendents’ Division of the Arizona School Administrators and chair of the Greater Casa Grande Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Dr. Davidson has been married to his wife, Nancy, for 32 years.  They have three children who all received post-secondary degrees after completing their K-12 education in the Casa Grande schools.
