Teacher Effectiveness Evaluation Instrument

Teacher Effectiveness Evaluation Instrument Information

During the 2010 Arizona legislative session, Senate Bill 1040 was passed to amend ARS § 15-203.  This amendment requires Arizona school districts and charters to change their teacher and principal evaluation instrument to include quantitative data on student academic progress.  This new instrument is required to be utilized by schools beginning in SY 2012-13.   The State Board of Education was tasked with adopting a model framework that includes quantitative data of student academic progress that accounts for 33%-50% of the evaluation outcomes.  The State Board of Education adopted this framework in April 2011.

To ensure all staff members impacted by this change have a voice in the development of the instrument, an evaluation instrument committee was formed.  Throughout SY 2010-11 this committee of teachers and administrators met to discuss the potential impact of this type of evaluation, and to discuss ways to develop the instrument.  The current Casa Grande Elementary School District Teacher Evaluation Instrument was designed by teachers and administrators and was implemented in SY 2006-2007.

Each school site had representives on the committee to ensure there was an active voice from each school.   The committee members were:
